RunCloud alternative for Node.js, Python and PHP teams
RunCloud is a well-priced server panel built around PHP and WordPress. Teams look for a RunCloud alternative when they also ship Node.js, Next.js, Python, Ruby, Go, Java or .NET apps and do not want a second tool or a folder of shell scripts for them. Deployment manages every one of those stacks from one panel, on servers in your own cloud account, with zero-downtime releases and one-click rollback on every plan.

Deployment and RunCloud compared
Both products leave your apps on servers you pay for directly, and both run the panel for you. The difference is scope and price. RunCloud is cheaper per server and goes deep on PHP and WordPress. Deployment costs more and covers every common runtime with the same release process. RunCloud figures below come from its public pricing page; check it for the latest numbers before you decide.
| Deployment | RunCloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Native runtimes for PHP, Node.js, Next.js, Python, Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, .NET and static sites, plus Docker | PHP web apps and WordPress (described as a PHP cloud server management panel). Check their current documentation for other runtimes |
| Price range | 49 to 1 499 USD a month, half price billed yearly | 9 to 399 USD a month, annual billing available |
| Servers per plan | Starter 3, Team 15, Agency 60, Enterprise 250 | Essentials 1, Professional 50, Business 100, Enterprise 500 |
| Zero-downtime releases | Every plan, with a health check before the switch | Atomic deployment on Business (49 USD) and above |
| Rollback | One click to any kept release | Check their current documentation |
| Team roles and seats | Owner, admin, developer and viewer roles, per-server access, audit log. 10 members on Team, 30 on Agency | Advanced user and role management on Business with 10 seats, 50 seats on Enterprise |
| API | REST API with scoped tokens and outgoing webhooks on every plan | RunCloud API on Business and above, with monthly request limits |
| Servers you can connect | Any Ubuntu or Debian server over SSH, or nine cloud providers by API token | Servers you connect from your cloud provider |
| SSO (SAML) | Enterprise plan | Check their current documentation |
| Best for | Teams and agencies with mixed stacks who want one release process for everything | PHP and WordPress fleets that want the lowest cost per server |
Why teams switch from RunCloud
The trigger is rarely price. It is the first app that is not PHP.
One panel for a mixed stack
A common setup in 2026 is a Laravel or WordPress back end, a Next.js front end and a Python worker that does the heavy lifting. A PHP panel handles the first part well, and the rest ends up as hand-written systemd units and a deploy script only one person understands. Deployment detects each repository's stack and gives every app the same build, release and log view. See how it works to deploy Next.js to your own server or deploy Django with workers and cron.
Zero downtime on the smallest plan
Every Deployment site builds into a fresh release folder, runs a health check, and only then switches traffic with an atomic symlink or container swap. If the check fails, the old release keeps serving. Rollback is one click to any kept release. This is part of Starter at 49 USD, not a higher tier, and it works the same for PHP-FPM, Node, Gunicorn, Puma, a Go binary or a .NET service. The details are on zero downtime deployment.
Controls an agency can bill for
Agencies that run client apps need to show who deployed what and when. Deployment logs every deploy, environment change and server action in an audit log, scopes access per server, and separates clients by server. The Agency plan covers 60 servers, unlimited sites and 30 members for 499 USD a month, or 249 USD a month billed yearly. Every plan is on PaaS pricing.
When RunCloud is the better choice
If every site you run is PHP or WordPress, RunCloud is a very good deal. Its Professional plan manages up to 50 servers for 19 USD a month, which is far below what Deployment charges for the same server count. Its WordPress toolkit, server-side caching options and firewall rules are tuned for exactly that workload.
We would tell a solo developer with a handful of WordPress sites to stay where they are. Deployment earns its price when your servers carry more than one language, when several people deploy to production, or when a failed release at 6 pm on a Friday costs real money. If none of that is true for you, the cheaper panel is the right call.
Who moves from RunCloud to Deployment
Four situations come up again and again.
Agencies going headless
WordPress stays as the content back end while a new Next.js front end ships to the same servers. Both deploy from git with the same release process, and the client sees one status page.
Startups with a Node or Python API
The marketing site is PHP, the product is a Node or FastAPI service with queue workers. Workers restart on each deploy and cron jobs keep their logs, without a second panel.
Freelancers consolidating clients
Client apps in three languages spread across a few VPS boxes. One dashboard shows every server, certificate, backup and failed deploy, so nothing gets missed between invoices.
Teams that need an audit trail
A security review or a customer contract asks who can reach production. Roles, per-server access and an audit log answer that, and Enterprise adds SAML single sign-on.
How to move from RunCloud to Deployment
You do not need a maintenance window. Move one app at a time and keep the old panel until the last site has switched.
- Create a fresh server from your cloud account in Deployment, or connect a new Ubuntu or Debian box over SSH. A clean server avoids clashes with the old panel's agent and nginx layout.
- Add each app from its GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository. Deployment detects the stack and proposes the runtime, build steps and release script, which you can edit.
- Copy environment variables into the encrypted environment for each site and review the diff before the first deploy.
- Export each MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL database, import it into a database created in Deployment, and schedule backups to your own S3-compatible bucket.
- Deploy to a temporary domain, test the app, then point DNS at the new server. Deployment issues the Let's Encrypt certificate as soon as the domain resolves.
- When the last app has moved and traffic on the old server has dropped to zero, cancel the old plan and retire the server.

RunCloud alternative questions
What is the best alternative to RunCloud?
It depends on your stack. For a PHP and WordPress fleet, RunCloud is hard to beat on price, and Laravel Forge, Ploi and SpinupWP are the usual alternatives. If you also run Node.js, Next.js, Python, Ruby, Go, Java or .NET apps, Deployment manages all of them from one panel on servers you own, with zero-downtime releases on every plan.
Is RunCloud only for PHP?
RunCloud describes itself as a PHP cloud server management panel, and its tooling centers on PHP web apps and WordPress. Teams that run other runtimes usually configure them by hand on the server or reach for a second tool. Check RunCloud's current documentation for the runtimes it supports today before you decide.
How much does RunCloud cost?
RunCloud's pricing page lists Essentials at 9 USD a month for 1 server, Professional at 19 USD for 50 servers, Business at 49 USD for 100 servers with 10 team seats, and Enterprise at 399 USD for 500 servers. Servers are billed separately by your cloud provider, and annual billing is available.
Does RunCloud support zero downtime deployment?
Yes, on its Business plan and above. RunCloud lists atomic deployment, its zero-downtime option, as a Business feature at 49 USD a month. Essentials and Professional include Git deployment without atomic releases. Deployment includes zero-downtime releases with a health check and one-click rollback on every plan, Starter included.
Can I move my servers from RunCloud without downtime?
Yes, if you migrate site by site. Connect a server to Deployment, deploy each app to a temporary domain, test it, then switch DNS. Your old setup keeps serving traffic until the switch, so visitors never see a gap. Most teams move one app at a time and cancel the old panel at the end.
Can I try Deployment before I pay?
Yes. The demo at the top of this page is free and runs once without an account: paste a public repository URL and you get the detected stack, a server plan and the first lines of the deploy script. Paid plans start at 49 USD a month, or 24 USD a month billed yearly.
